I’m Mat, a freelance graphic designer based in Salisbury, Wiltshire, with over 14 years’ experience working across brands, campaigns, digital and print.
Most recently I was Design Lead at YuMOVE, having previously worked at Rightmove, Stats Perform and MT Finance. My work has covered everything from social content and packaging to exhibition stands and office spaces. I enjoy that variety, especially working out how an idea can carry across different formats whilst still feeling like part of the same brand.
Having spent much of my career in-house, I’m used to getting involved beyond the initial brief, understanding what a business needs and working with the people responsible for making it happen. I enjoy developing the early ideas, but I’m equally happy getting into the detail and seeing a project through to the finished work.
Working with other creatives has also been a big part of my career, and something I’ve found particularly rewarding. I enjoy having people to share ideas with, helping them work through a challenge and seeing their confidence grow. As a freelancer, I’m comfortable taking ownership of a project or joining an existing team when they need support.
Outside of work, music is a fairly constant presence, and festivals have featured heavily over the years. I also enjoy travelling and cooking, particularly when a trip gives me something new to try making at home.
